I am quite excited about about Church and Mission in a Global Context. The course introduction today caused me to be anxious for what’s to come. I am hungry for a stronger understanding of the church’s role in a constantly evolving culture. Far too many times have I witnessed fellow Chrisians showing embarrasment regarding their congregation when in the midst of unbelievers. They cringe at the thought of inviting their non-believing friends to a worship service, because it is viewed as a place trapped in time. I am interested in grasping what the role of the church should be today. What is the role of the church in Milan when most youth think religion is for old people and is not taken seriously. What about in Canada, where people are so friendly and open up until the conversation leads into spiritual matters. I’m hoping this class will help me unfold these questions and many more.
